We all have something that we like, however its so embarrassing that we never really talk about it. I have a confession to make. I liked the first American Godzilla. Well, first when I had a chance to watch it I was Russian kid back in 2000, my family was not extremely rich to go to the movies everyday (the town where I lived was 50 km away from the actual city with the actual movies theater and not the big room where the movie was played on DVD and projected on the gigantic white cover that somebody stole from his grandmother (things changed now), so the only place for me to watch the movie was on the television which I did and liked. But I did watch some Japanese versions years later and understood how shitty the American Godzilla is compared to the original one. Accept my apologies.
But the conversation here is not about my secret pleasure but how epic the new American Godzilla is and to be honest compared to the all Godzilla movies since 1998 this one definitely hit the new ground zero.
The progression of the movie from beginning to an end was quite slow and at some parts, with stereotypical Hollywood drama, annoying if you ask me. But that does not mean that story plot has been ruined by Edwards. In fact it was cooking me more and more for that last bit that totally worth all the money.
The American talent in CGI and sound effects once again showed itself at the very top. The iconic and slightly polished Daikaiju roar in the cinema almost made me deaf and I almost pissed myself from happiness.
The only thing I hope is that if Legendary Pictures is going to make a sequel that the appointed director is going to show slightly more of Godzilla and slightly less story about people. Just enough before it turns into the Pacific Rim. Let's hope for the best.
P.S.
I guess Americans really wanted to prove that they can make a good Godzilla movie after this footage.
Now, this is my personal believe and I don't push anyone to think in the same way, but crowd funding are the first steps towards the change of the gaming industry production. Why?
May be the idea of crowd funding is risky and, yes, it does have some deflects, however, the developers such as Chris Roberts and the guys behind the Kingdom Comes: Deliverance, really put the hope into crowd funding "effect".
Here is how I imagine the games are being published. A group of guys comes to the private investor or a game publishing company, with an idea of what exactly they want to make and how it will look like. But more importantly what interest the investor or the publisher is weather the game will be bring them money. Then they decide on weather game is going to be published or not in accordance to their marketing department (if you want to know my opinion on that, I suggest you to watch the following).
How different is crow funding from the publisher I can just quote from the Kingdom Comes official website: " Help us to bring our vision to life. Help us to create not the 176th free-to-play mobile RPG MMO Elven village-builder with DIAMONDS™, but a unique, engaging experience we think you’d like to play. Every extra dollar will allow us to make the final product that much better because it means more money for development and more support from our investor." A power of the people's money to support those who they believe can fulfil their desires. If that is not the future of upcoming, but of course probably not so protected for now, future than I don't know what is.
Wait, before you start throwing excrements at me I want to clarify something, I can bet my right arm that the new Battlefront is going to look and sound amazing, knowing how talented are the guys at DICE by simply looking at their previous 2 games and that its going to be one of the best-sellers of the next year, but I am not expecting it to be good, for a few reasons that , if to be fair, do not lie not entirely in the DICE themselves, but in the company that publish their art pieces. Yup.....you guessed it....EA. But as Jim Sterling said in one of his episodes of "Jimquestion" the gaming industry is runed mostly by the "long-lived" CEOs that have a business background in anything BUT video games along with the marketeers, that those CEOs rely on (you can check the full episode by clicking HERE).
Why did I notice it? All of us are still remember the SimCity and how long did it took to get the servers back online before the consumer would go on EA with "war". All of us are still remember Battlefield 4 and how broken this is still. I am not saying that the games are horrible. NO. All the recent games, well for the most part (*cough* Dead Space 3 *cough* Medal of Honor Warfighter *cough*), are highly enjoyable and really well executed. Starting from Battlefield 3 (I freaking love this game) and finishing , actually, SimCity and, damn, I want Battlefront to be successful. But knowing the EA nature of rushing their releases (Titanfall for example) I expect it to be slightly worse then battlefield 4 in terms server and game stability, but not the artistic execution. So I would suggest to lower your expectations as "Dark side" I sense. Uncertain future of Star Wars is.
This is my 50 cents into the discussions about the EA reinstalment of the battlefront, game that I spent playing the best part of my teen years. I really hope I will be wrong.
Linsanity is not only the basketball player -
Jeremy Lin who is the only Asian-American basketball player in the NBA league,
but also a documentary movie that describe his life from his childhood in Palo
Alto, California to his extraordinary performance at New York Knicks in
2012.
This movie is just Jeremy’s life story.
Everybody knows how he became the savior of Knicks in 2012 when there was a
pretty bad results, and Jeremy lead Knicks back to the right track and win 5
games in a row. But before his first
appearance in Madison Square Garden, he
was afraid that he will be fired in a couple of days and had to stay on his
teammate’s couch to spend the night. It was a inspiring and admiring story as
he was traded to Houston Rockets with his teammates Dwight Howard and James
Harden take all the control over the game and Jeremy has kept being accused by
his poor defense and weak score. But the truth is Jeremy is not only a point
guard but also a great shooting guard, he is really good at scoring and he can
pull the strings for everybody on court. But Harden need to master the ball,
Howard need it to, there are very rare chances for Lin to get the ball since he
is deserved to has the most opportunities to dribble on court.
Unfortunately, life is not a fairytale, although
he face the rumors of being transferred to other teams, but his spirits of not
giving up and keep hold on will support him to go further long in the league
and also encourage all the fans here to grow up with him.

In not so long March 2007, before DayZ was even planned, Ukrainian developer GSC World published S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl, what I would call, the most successful ancestor of all FPS Survival horror game genre in the open world that feels and run like an RPG. Mutants, anomalis and interactive and fighting with each other NPC was the perfect match that gave that game that feeling of belonging to the world.
7 Years past S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl had few as it is believed less successful predecessors (Clear Sky, which is my personal favourite, and Call of Pripyat), GSC World fell apart and we didn't get to see the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 and we completly have lost hope in the release. Untill the March 2012, former employees of the GSC World came together and started the new team called Vostok Games that currently works on the Online adaptation of the Stalker-like universe with the new name.
Survarium is based around the ecological catastrophe that took place in near future, where the exosystem technically declared war on the humanity. You objective is fairly simple. Survive. How you going to do it in the world full of anomalies, mutants and other players that only want to get your loot, will only lies in your hands.
There is a chance to get yourself involved into the project that is going on already. After registration on the official website you will be put into the lottery where each minute the website anounces a new participant in the beta test or by purchasing the beta key for only 9.99$. Can this be called a DayZ killer? Not at this current stage, but if the Vostok Games will take the experience it gained with the 3 STALKER games, it sure can DayZ off the stage. No doubt about that.
ATTENTION: The on going beta is currently played only on one game mode (teamplay=capture the flag).
more information could be found at the offical website and forums.
Here is some video of how the game actually looks like, right now.

Django Unchained is another one of those Quentin Tarantino master pieces and some even
say the best he did since Pulp Fiction in 1994. Released in late 2012 it
grossed an estimated $162.8 million at the US box office alone! It stars Jamie
Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio and even Samuel L Jackson, who is in
my opinion unrecognisable in this movie in character and mask.
The movie is set in early
America just before the Civil war and can be divided into two sections. The
first part a mock western and the second a trail of revenge, probably because
Tarantino loooves revenge.
The story line starts with
German-born bounty hunter Dr King Schultz, posing as a dentist, freeing (or
more or less stealing Django) from slavery, as he is n need of his help find
the runaway gangster by the name of the ‘Brittle Brothers’. So the two go off
and do the Western thing, hunt the bad guys and collect the bounty. Django,
however has only one thing in mind, finding his long lost love Brunhilde, who
is lost in the slave trade. This quest to find Brunhilde and take revenge on
those keeping her in slavery takes part in the second half of the movie.
My favourite scene of the
movie is the one where the African-American housekeeper Stephen, played by
Samuel L Jackson, questions the validity of Django, played by Jamie Foxx, to be
riding on a horse. I have not yet count how often the N-word and some deem the
frequent use of it in the movie to be controversial, but after 180 minutes
running you do get used to it.
The movie not only ends with,
but has throughout, this violent absurdity of people dying in the extravagant,
obscene, over the top, profound ways, which bring you to the point where you
either switch off or laugh it off. After Inglorious Basterds, this makes me
believe that this is, where Tarantino like to push the audience right to the
edge of what’s funny – what’s artistic and what’s not. This is where he seems
to be most comfortable in his film making, meaning gets a very good movie out
of it. And that this is in fact what makes a Tarantino movie a great movie –
the utter and complete nonsense of it in its entirety. Django unchained is
being sadistic and pushes moral boundries and ambitions at the same time.
The cast of this movie, just
as in Inglorious Basterds, is define. Christoph Watlz for the second time
starring in a Tarantino movie goes on to win an Oscar for best actor in a
supporting role for the second. Even Tarantino himself makes a cameo
appearance, as an Australian Cowboy. Gold.
The former couch of Los Angeles
Lakers—Mike D’Antoni has completely detached with the team recently, and Koby
Bryant said on the ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live that he didn’t care and he wants to
play a role in picking the new coach for the next season. So with the
rehabilitate return of Bryant, and a new head coach is coming, what else is
Lakers need to consider?
First of all is the team management,
there were rumors of Paul Gasol will be trade for long time, but the manager
should consider about Gasol is one of the few players that could complete the
tactics of pick and roll, and if they let Gasol go, who will they need to cover
the loss of frontcourt?
Secondly,
Lakers need a star. No matter Carmelo Anthony or LeBron James who can opt out
from their contract, they are all could be a wonderful option for Lakers to
choose to get the championship, but due to the salary gap of leagues and high
wages of Bryant, if Lakers want another star, they need to reconsider about to
give up one player or to decrease someone’s salary.
The road ahead
for Lakers to get the championship is really tough, but if they are heading to
this point, they really need to come up with some measures.
